With the recent news of Jamie Lee Curtis returning to the new Halloween film in 2018, another exciting franchise vet is coming back: creator John Carpenter.
To be fair, Carpenter has always been listed as some sort of producer to David Gordon Green’s new Halloween film but his involvement has been in question. Is his and co-producer Debra Hill’s producer credits symbolic only? Will they be hands-on with the new film? In an interview with Billboard, Carpenter gives more information about his involvement.
“I am an executive producer and it looks clear to me that I’ve made a deal to do the music.“
Well ... not so much on the production side, but Carpenter appears to be returning to provide the score to the new film which may or may not jettison all other sequels but the first. This isn’t much of a surprise given that Carpenter in the recent years has been focused more on music and touring than in the nuts-and-bolts of movie production.
Carpenter does not rule out a brand new score to the film but we can all hope he will tap into his incredibly powerful melodies created in 1978. Halloween 2018 can’t come soon enough!
